The
2007 Symposium will take place at Nagoya
Gakuin University's brand-new Shirotori
Campus. Located in Central Nagoya, this new
campus is surrounded by Shirotori Park, Shirotori Garden and Atsuta Park
as well as Nagoya
Congress Center and Atsuta
Jingu.

NGU features a convenience store (open for breakfast, lunch and snacks) and vending machines. Pre-registered participants will also be able to enjoy a buffet lunch on the second-floor cafeteria.
On-campus parking is not available.

Area Information
Kanayama
station is a major transportation hub with convenient access to many of
the key attractions. Meitetsu Line connects Kanayama to Centrair
Airport (25 minutes) and Nagoya station (10 minutes). Nishi Takakura (Meijo
Line) and Hibino (Meiko Line), two nearest subway stations to Nagoya Gakuin
University, are only 2 minutes (one stop) away.
Meijo Line also takes you to Sakae station, a major city center.
On the North side of Kanayama station, Asunal, a shopping and dining complex, features nearly 60 shops and restaurants as well as live performances. Additional restaurants, coffee shops and convenient stores can be found all around the station. Right by the South Exit, Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts, which is annexed to ANA Hotel Grand Court Nagoya, exhibits various works of art from its sister museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts. ANA Hotel also houses Nagoya Urban Institute, which has a public-access library and exhibition rooms.
Nagoya
Gakuin University's brand new Shirotori campus, which will open for the
new academic year in April 2007, is adjacent to Shirotori Garden and Shirotori
Park with walking paths. Across the Horikawa
River are Atsuta Park and Atsuta
Jingu, an ancient shinto shrine that attracts many locals and
tourists alike. Nagoya
Congress Center is also a few minutes away.
You
can find a wide array of additional attractions within 10 minutes of Kanayama.
Around Sakae
station (Meijo Line) are many department stores, shops, restaurants
and bars as well as Central Park and Terebi Tou (TV Tower), one
of Nagoya's most famous landmarks. Nagoya
station boasts several giant
department stores as well as JR Central Towers, housing numerous
shops and restaurants. Major sight-seeing spots such as Nagoya
Castle, Nagoya Port Italian Village are also only minutes away.
Nagoya's infrastructure was recently upgraded in preparation for 2005 Expo, and it continues to grow vigorously, thanks to the city's booming economy. With many signs written in Japanese and English as well as Chinese, Korean and Spanish, getting around the city is fairly easy even for non-Japanese-speaking (or reading) visitors. Many new restaurants and attractions of various kinds continue to mushroom all over the metropolis. Throughout the city, you will also find more traditional Nagoya cuisine, such as miso katsu (Pork cutlet with miso-based sauce), hitsu mabushi (eel mixed in with rice), ebi furai (breaded, fried shrimp) ten-musu (shrimp tempura in a rice ball) and tebasaki (chiken wings). In the morning, many local coffee shops offer generous mooning saabisu (morning specials)--coffee, toast and a boiled egg for the price of a cup of coffee!
And if you are in the mood for excursions, hop on Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train) from Nagoya station to other major cities such as Kyoto, Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka and Kobe, or take Kintetsu Tokkyu (limited express) to pay a visit to Pearl Museum and Toba Aquarium in Toba; Ise Jingu (shinto shrine) and Parque España (an amuzement park inspired by Spanish culture) in Ise/Shima. Or meet real ninja at Iga Ninja Museum in Iga Ueno, which is also the birth place of the haiku poet Matsuo Basho.
